St. Michael under ground (Kolombera district)
To the West of Višnjan, in Antique times and in the Middle Ages, there was a well known settlement called Dilian. The settlement and its famous Church were being mentioned from the early Middle Ages. The landowner SELMON (Telmon) funded and became the first abbot of the Benedictine (840–1529) monastery dedicated to St. Michael, most probably because of the crypt underneath the main altar. Allocated to another order, the monastery was functional until the mid 19th century. Today, it is a ruin in the underbush.
