The area of the Municipality of Višnjan is situated in the inland part of the Western Istria and covers a 20 km wide belt.
The surface area of the Municipality is 65.42 km2, and it consists of 54 villages and settlements.
The Municipality of Višnjan spreads graphically over the area at an altitude of 250 m above sea level, with slightly elevated terrains, facing the sea, and thus suitable for the cultivation of vines, olives and cereals, which are, at the same time, the main cultures growing on the Municipality fields.
Average annual temperature is 13.4°C. Winds are a frequent occurence in these parts, the most frequent being bura, jugo, maestral and levante. In accordance with climatic conditions, precipitation, amount of sun, winds and soil composition, the population of the Municipality of Višnjan are mainly engaged in agriculture and animal rearing, which, at the same time, forms the economic base of this area. The Municipality of Višnjan has 2,187 inhabitants (according to the 2001 census) with 737 households, including 4 cadastral municipalities. According to the same census, the Municipality of Višnjan has 1,079 male and 1,108 female inhabitants, of which 531 male and 338 female are work able persons.
